Speedbump
March 6, 2005 -- Decatur, IL We welcomed a new bundle of joy to our home; Ethan Carlton, 8lbs 2oz and 20 inches long. He came two weeks early, well, he was actually evicted from the warm cozy room of mom. Dad and Auntie Sarah were there to share in the newcoming. He has definetly lived up to his nickname, by slowing us down somewhat... Ethan has been quite the little traveler. Born in Illinois, going home to Louisiana, and traveling to South Carolina where dad works, then back again several times already. Ethan is now 41/2 months. He is rolling over, blowing raspberries, laughing, sitting up, sticking out his tongue, and walking when holding on to him. Somedays we wish he would slow down!!! guestbook / what's new / speedbump / colby and noah / family / fotosaurus / archive

Big Brothers Help Out With New Arrival
Mom and Dad Are Surviving
With everyhting going on in our lives, from traveling, sending a kid off to travel Europe, a little one, and one who is laid back about life in general, we are happy to be getting enough sleep. (Yes, Ethan is sleeping all night and has been.) Dad is working hard. Mom has a little one attached 24/7, plus 5 other boys to take care of, but she is doing just fine. July 22, 2005 The boys have been a BIG help with little brother and just in general. We couldn't have managed without them. Thank-you Colby and Noah !!
We Love You !!!! but big brothers are helping out a lot. From changing diapers to holding or even reading to their new little brother. Every day he is getting bigger and the boys enjoy him even more. Ethan recognizes his big brothers and greets them with a smile when he sees them. The help doesn't stop there. They have picked up some extra chores while mom is busy with the baby. Colby has started mowing the lawn while dad weed eats and edges, This is a big help since it's a four hour job that mom doesn't have time for right now, and helping with some of the housework, like taking care of their own bathroom. Noah and Colby celebrate birthdays!!!
June 17 and 24, 2005 Noah celebrated his 9th birthday with a red pool party. He invited (that morning) a few friends over. Of course they ate pizza and birthday cake. (It's hard when they want something last minute. He thought he wanted to wait until Colby came home to have a party, but he changed his mind the day of his birthday.) Colby celebrated his birthday in Scotland. They made sure he had a birthday cake to celbrate. Europe was a great birthday present for an eleven year old!!! People to People June 19 -- July 2, 2005 British Isles We are proud to say, Colby was chosen for the People to People Student Ambassador Program, started by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956, to promote world peace. Colby went through an interview process and really knocked their socks off. He went through 10 months of preparation meet- ings (all to earn a college credit and go to Europe without parents for 14 days!!!). With an ATM card loaded with $$ and clothes to wear, off he went (he did have a toothbrush, and even said proudly "I used it five times!!!"). The group went to England first. They rode "The Eye" (the biggest ferris wheel in the world), where they could see for miles areound them. He got to see where the queen lives, where Harry Potter was filmed, where the first Harry Potter book was written, lots of castles and dungeons, and Eton, where the princes went to school. Next, they were off the Scotland where they saw the "Falls of Clyde", went canoeing, visited Edinburg, and learned some Scottish dances. Off to Wales for two days; the group went to the city of Chester and learned some Welsh language. The coolest thing they did, was going down the Great Orme (which is a side of a mountain) on a toboggan. Colby says, "The best part about Wales was I got to shake hands with Prince Edward, but all I got was a picture of the back of his head". They spent their last days in Ireland, where they visited a city whose name is 59 letters long (click on the word for pronunciation): Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch which means "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave". Next time you see him, ask him to say it for you!!! Colby's favorite part about Ireland was the "Army Duck", an amphibious vehicle that rides on land and over water. Even though he might not admit it now, he was HOME SICK..."Please moma, let me come home. Put me on a plane....you can afford it!! PLEEEEASE !". |
